Dr. David Quinn is an Engineer at Veryst Engineering LLC, an engineering consulting firm in the Boston area. Dr. Quinn has expertise in the mechanics of engineering and biological materials and the design of biomedical devices and implants. Dr. Quinn has performed research into the biorheology of healthy and diseased human red blood cells using advanced experimental and numerical techniques, including combination of optical trapping, nonlinear finite element analysis, and microfluidic techniques. Dr. Quinn also has an expertise in microvascular blood flow. Dr. Quinn’s expertise encompasses the mechanics of thin film materials, thermo-structural design of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and a variety of materials characterization techniques, including optical microscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy, and micro and nano-indentation. Dr. Quinn’s combination of expertise is used to examine the design and failure of manufactured products, including biomedical devices and implants, thin films, and consumer products.
